Apple pie anna coffee

Kramanakis left Athens and immigrated to New York. He got a job through relatives who taught him to say "Apple pie and coffee" in English so he could order in a restaurant. The next day Kramanakis walked into a diner.

"What'll you have?" asked the waitress.

"Apple pie anna coffee," said the immigrant.

Since that was all he could say, he was forced to eat apple pie and coffee every day for a month. When he complained to his relatives, they taught him to say, "Ham sandwich."

Armed with the new addition to his vocabulary, Rramanakis told the waitress, "Ham sandwich."

"White or rye?" she asked.

"Apple pie anna coffee," replied the Greek.
